A kontingenciatĂ©nyezĹ‘k hatása a termelĂ©si gyakorlatok használatára Ă©s a működĂ©si teljesĂtmĂ©nyre = The effect of contingencies on the use of manufacturing practices and operations performance
DisszertáciĂłmban azt vizsgáltam, hogy a termelĂ©s nĂ©hány kontingenciatĂ©nyezĹ‘je milyen hatást gyakorol arra, hogy a termelĹ‘ vállalatok milyen termelĂ©si gyakorlatokat milyen mĂ©rtĂ©kben használnak Ă©s mindez milyen működĂ©si teljesĂtmĂ©nyhez vezet. Ennek Ă©rdekĂ©ben elĹ‘ször feltártam a vonatkozĂł szakirodalmat, mĂ©gpedig kĂ©t fázisban. ElĹ‘ször visszamentem a kontingenciatĂ©nyezĹ‘kkel foglalkozĂł alapirodalomig a kontingenciaelmĂ©let Ă©s a stratĂ©giai menedzsment terĂĽletĂ©re, hogy azonosĂthassam a legjelentĹ‘sebb kontingenciatĂ©nyezĹ‘ket, majd ezek alapján felkutattam az operations management (OM) terĂĽletĂ©n már publikált forrásokat az elsĹ‘ fázis eredmĂ©nyeire alapozva Ă©s azokat szem elĹ‘tt tartva. Ă–sszesen nĂ©gy kontingenciatĂ©nyezĹ‘t azonosĂtottam: a környezetet, a mĂ©retet, a technolĂłgiát Ă©s a stratĂ©giai fĂłkuszt (ami az OM terĂĽletĂ©nek specialitása Ă©s a vállalat termelĂ©si stratĂ©gia orientáciĂłját jelzi). SzintĂ©n utánanĂ©ztem a termelĂ©si gyakorlatok Ă©s a működĂ©si teljesĂtmĂ©ny kapcsolatának. Ezen tudásra alapozva fogalmaztam meg kutatási modellemet Ă©s öt hipotĂ©zisemet, melyek a következĹ‘k voltak:
H1: a modellben vizsgált termelĂ©si gyakorlatok szignifikáns hatást gyakorolnak a működĂ©si teljesĂtmĂ©nyre.
H2: a modellben vizsgált kontingenciatényezők szignifikáns hatást gyakorolnak a vállalatok által használt termelési gyakorlatok alkalmazási szintjére.
H3: a modellben vizsgált kontingenciatĂ©nyezĹ‘k moderálják a termelĂ©si gyakorlatok Ă©s a működĂ©si teljesĂtmĂ©ny közötti kapcsolatot.
H4: léteznek egymástól eltérő, stabil kontingenciatényező – termelési gyakorlat konfigurációk.
H5: kimutathatĂł az egyenvĂ©gűsĂ©g (equifinality) állapota, azaz lĂ©teznek olyan egymástĂłl eltĂ©rĹ‘, stabil kontingenciatĂ©nyezĹ‘ – termelĂ©si gyakorlat konfiguráciĂłk, melyek ugyanolyan magas szintű működĂ©si teljesĂtmĂ©nyhez vezetnek
The impact of lean practices on inventory turnover
Lean manufacturing (LM) is currently enjoying its second heyday. Companies in several industries are implementing leanpractices to keep pace with the competition and achieve better results. In this article, we will concentrate on how companies can improve their inventoryturnover performance through the use ofleanpractices. According to our main proposition, firms that widely apply leanpractices have higher inventoryturnover than those that do not rely on LM. However, there may be significant differences in inventoryturnover even among lean manufacturers depending on their contingencies. Therefore, we also investigate how various contingency factors (production systems, order types, product types) influence theinventoryturnoveroflean manufacturers. We use cluster and correlation analysis to separate manufacturers based onthe extent of their leanness and to examine the effect of contingencies. We acquired the data from the International Manufacturing Strategy Survey (IMSS) in ISIC sectors 28–35
Configurational methods in operations management contingency research - overview and the introduction of multidimensional scaling as a possible new application
In this paper we examine different applicable methods for analyzing configurations of manufacturing practices and contingency factors. The paper consists of two main parts.
We first review those methods that can be used for investigating configurations based on Venkatraman (1989) and Venkatraman – Prescott (1990): gestalts, profile deviation and covariation, and we introduce another method for configurational analysis, namely the multidimensional scaling (MDS). The second part provides an empirical comparison of between some of these methods by using the fifth wave of IMSS database which contains 725 valid observations from 21 countries from the ISIC 28-35 industries. We give an example for the joint use of factor analysis and multidimensional scaling, and also of cluster analysis and multidimensional scaling
The impact of external market factors on operational practices and performance of companies
The links between operational practices and performance are well studied in the literature, both theoretically and
empirically. However, mostly internal factors are inspected more closely as the basis of operational performance,
even if the impact of external, environmental factors is often emphasized. Our research fills a part of this existing
gap in the literature. We examine how two environmental factors, market dynamism and competition impact the
use of some operational practices (such as quality improvement, product development, automation, etc.) and the
resulting operations and business performance.
The method of path analysis is used. Data were acquired through an international survey (IMSS – International
Manufacturing Strategy Survey), which was executed in 2005, in 23 participating countries in so called
"innovative" industries (ISIC 28-35) with a sample of 711 firms. Results show that both market dynamism and
competition have large impact on business performance, but the indirect effects, through operations practices are
rather weak compared to direct ones. The most influential practices are from the area of process and control, and
quality management
Környezeti tĂ©nyezĹ‘k Ă©s adottságok hatása a vállalati legjobb gyakorlatok Ă©s a teljesĂtmĂ©ny kapcsolatára = The effect of contingencies on the relation of best practices and performance
A kutatás fókuszában a vállalati reálműködésben használt legjobb gyakorlatok kontingencia tényezők (pl. vállalatméret, versenyintenzitás, piaci dinamika) általi meghatározottsága állt. | The goal of our research was to discover a) how and to what extent contingencies (for example market dynamics, competition intensity, company size or strategic focus) affect what kind of best practices companies implement, and b) how successful it is to implement best practices under various contingencies. The research focused on three issues 1) contingencies of lean management success, 2) the impact of country competitiveness on servitization and levels of company globalization, 3) the relationship of best practices and business performance under some contingency factors. The main result of the survey is that contingency factors have crucial impact on both the use of best practices and on the performance achieved by using them
A vállalatméret szerepe a termelésben – A mérési módszer hatása
A szerzĹ‘k cikkĂĽkben feltárják a vizsgált vállalatok mĂ©rete, termelĂ©sben alkalmazott gyakorlataik Ă©s a termelĂ©s során elĂ©rt teljesĂtmĂ©nyĂĽk kapcsolatát. RĂ©szletes irodalomfeldolgozásuk eredmĂ©nye arra utal, hogy
a méretet, illetve annak kategorizálását a különböző kutatók következetlenül végezték, és ennek is köszönhetően vegyes eredmények születtek a méret szerepével kapcsolatban.

Aligning supplier evaluation with manufacturing competitive priorities. Results of an international survey in manufacturing and assembly industries
The aim of our research is to investigate a company’s purchasing and manufacturing competitive priorities jointly in order to uncover any relationships between them and also their effect on the supply chain tools implemented by the company. We assume that the supplier selection criteria of the companies reflect the true goals of the purchasing function and we take the purchasing function’s point of view to examine the aforementioned relationships. We use a multinational database for our empirical analysis which contains almost 700 companies from 20 countries and data that were acquired in 2009. We identified four different clusters which reflect a different level of supply chain tool implementation
